UK Authorities Identify Nerve Agent Used In Assassination Attempt As Soviet-Era 'Novichok'

According to a report by Business Insider, UK authorities are now convinced that a Soviet-era nerve agent called Novichok, or "newcomer" in Russian, was used in the assassination attempt against a former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. Reuters reports that Novichoks were developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, though Russia's stockpiles of the chemical was never declared to the international community.
