Gus Van Sant’s Pscyho remake turns 20 years old this year. For the film, the director decided to remake Psycho frame-by-frame. Upon its release, the remake was largely slammed by critics and it was a box-office bomb. During a recent podcast with Marc Maron, Van Sant revealed that the idea for the remake came in response to the trend in the 90s for making sequels.
