In Australia, children are completely bombarded with TV ads for junk food.Researchers studied Australian TV advertising for one year.In 30,000 hours of network TV, more than 100,000 food ads were run--or 500 hours.The most frequent ads were for snacks, soda, and fast foods.If children watched 80 minutes of TV per day, they'd see 800 ads a year.Also, more ads for junk foods run when children watch TV compared with other times.
