Transportation Department Faults NHSTA For Slow Airbag Recall

According to Automotive News, the Transportation Department's Office of Inspector General published an audit of the Takata recall.But their report faults the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for its delayed action to expand a record-setting recall for millions of air bags.The NHSTA has managed the auto safety recall due to faulty airbag inflators manufactured by Takata for years.But the Transportation Department found that the agency did not follow its own procedures to address low recall completion rates.
