Senate To Hold Antitrust Hearing For Proposed Sprint\/T-Mobile Merger Deal

May 24, 2018

According to a report by B&, the Senate will hold an antitrust hearing to vet the proposed Sprint/T-Mobile merger. Last month, the two companies announced that they had struck a deal to join forces, arguing that the 146 billion-dollar company would become a stronger competitor to former Bells Verizon and AT&T. However, critics have countered that the deal will reduce choice in the wireless broadband market. According to a committee spokesperson, the Senate Judiciary Committee's Antitrust Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the deal on June 27th.
