Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Delays Prepaid Regulations

Dec 26, 2017

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released its 2018 regulatory agenda, which indicates a slowdown in rule-making and regulation, according to The Wall Street Journal. That slowdown comes amid a leadership scuffle following and will impact the CFPB’s sweeping prepaid regulations. The new rules were poised to make prepaid cards, which often come with fees, considerably more consumer-friendly. For context, roughly two-thirds of prepaid users pay a fee of some sort.
