The New York Times published an investigative report on Saturday which explained why the New York City subway has become increasingly unreliable. The report found that funding for the MTA from the New York City Government has decreased by 75% since 1990. The MTA is now mostly funded through fares, tolls and tax revenues. In New York only 65% of trains reach their destination within five minutes of their scheduled time.
